On Friday 10th and Saturday 11th September, the doors of the new-look Captain Cooks store were opened to the general public. Introducing a brand new animated Captain Cooks character, a life size cartoon version of The Captain(to which he is now affectionately known as), was spotted literally stopping traffic on Church Street, interacting with the locals and giving out balloons and flyers.
Passing shoppers were also treated to a 20% discount across the store, in store cooking demonstrations, some light refreshments and an on street charity Cake & Jam Sale – run in partnership with Ballee High School to raise funds for the local Northern Area Lone Parent Centre (part of Gingerbread NI) in Ballymena.
Neville Moore, Manager Director of Ulster Stores (the parent company of Captain Cooks) explains the ethos behind the re launch activities.
“As a well known business in the Ballymena area, we have recently re-branded and re-launched our Captain Cooks store. We have been developing our character The Captain now for several months and are very excited to finally introduce him to the people of Ballymena. At Captain Cooks we are genuinely passionate about our product. We love and appreciate good cooking and honestly believe that we have the best tools, equipment and in store expertise to help our customers make that happen in their home. We hope over the coming months that The Captain will effectively deliver this message to our customers in a way that is fun, friendly and engaging.
As part of our new Captain Cooks approach, we are also keen to formally develop strong partnerships with the local community. We were absolutely delighted therefore, to link up with the local Ballee Community High School (as part of the Business in the Community’s Adopt a School initiative), to run a charity fund raising Cake & Jam Sale. Having the students in our store was a great venture. The sale was really well received with local shoppers and the presence of the school children really added to the community feel. We look forward to working with them again on future initiatives.”
